The owner of a 15-week-old puppy that ‘almost died’ in a vicious attack outside a popular bar is searching for the owner of the dog responsible after having to pay $7,000 to save the pup’s life.
The attack happened just before 3pm on July 23 outside the Darlo Bar on Liverpool Street in Sydney’s inner-city suburb of Darlinghurst and was captured on CCTV.
The footage shows two people walking the puppy near a row of tables outside the bar before a white dog lunges and pins the pup to the ground.
The dog owners are seen trying to pry the pair apart before bar patrons surround the injured puppy.
The puppy was rushed to the vet and was given emergency surgery for life-threatening internal injuries, costing his owner $7,000.
In another clip, the owner of the white dog is seen gesturing to the corner as she talks to a woman sitting at a table before leaving.
However, it is not known if the footage of the woman was captured before or after the attack.
The footage was shared on Sunday to a Facebook group for dog owners who live in the city’s Inner West.
The anonymous poster urged social media users for help in identifying the white dog’s owner – a woman wearing a light coloured tracksuit, black sneakers and holding a large black bag.
‘Her dog viciously attacked my friend’s 15-week-old puppy, leaving him with a ruptured liver and a very small chance of survival,’ the anonymous person wrote.
‘Luckily he pulled through (after a $7k vet bill), but the owners need help tracking this woman down and ensuring that her dog is secured as a dangerous animal. Any help would be very much appreciated.’
The friend said a report was filed with the Sydney of City Council to track down the woman and her dangerous pet but authorities were struggling to find her.

Social media users labelled the attack as ‘pretty confronting’, while others accused the friend of targeting the dog, which appears to be a Pitbull, because of its breed.
The friend added a dachshund was also involved in the attack and had bit the puppy’s ear during the commotion.
‘The owner of the dachshund immediately came forward and took full ownership for the harm their dog did,’ the person wrote.
‘It was only the larger dog that caused the internal, and life-threatening injuries whose owner ran away from the scene and has subsequently denied any responsibility.
‘Whether a toddler or a puppy, anyone should be able to walk into a public venue without worry of an animal attacking them.’
